Green Power Pangasinan Philippines Inc. (" GPPGPI")

The Company

GPPGPI was formed in January 2008 to implement the feasibility study started in 2006 to deliver biomass-based electricity to the province of Pangasinan in the island of Luzon, Philippines.

GPPGPI is a 100% Philippine subsidiary company of  Global Green Power PLC Corporation ("GGPC").

The Project

GPPGPI initial project is the development of a 35 MW multifuel biomass power plant. The project is located in Pangasinan on the Island of Luzon where there is a looming energy crisis.

The location of the Pangasinan is strategic in its' location for biomass availability. Poyry Energy Inc have been engaged to deliver "Owners Engineers" services to the project. Selection, Qualifying and Bidding of key equipment has begun this 20th May 2009 to secure the "Best in Class" equipment for the project.

GPPGPI Project Status

The company has moved quickly to mobilize and deliver clean, renewable energy to the Luzon Grid which is facing a severe energy shortfall in 2010.

The company has:

  • Secured full Endorsement from the Department of Energy ("DOE") after extensive technical and financial review and investigation.
  • Secured Philippine Board of Investment ("BOI") approval for the project as a Philippine Priority Project.
  • Commenced preparation of the GPPGPI Environmental Compliance Certificate ("ECC")
  • Commenced bidding of key, long lead time equipment including Boiler and Turbine Islands as well as Civil Engineering.
  • Appointed Poyry Energy Inc as Owners Engineers for the project.
  • Negotiating the final Engineering, Procurement and Construction ("EPC") contract to ensure guaranteed performance and delivery of the GPPGPI Power Plant.
  • Commenced development of the Clean Development Mechanism ("CDM") requirements to register the project to "Gold Standard".
  • Signed Fuel Supply Agreements with Global Biomass PLC Corporation.
  • Commenced conceptual civil engineering design and work at the GPPGPI site.
  • Negotiating the purchase of a Ten (10) Hectare site in Pangasinan.

The power plant will utilize agricultural waste from several key crops grown within Panagasinan and provide clean, decentralized, renewable energy significantly reducing the environmental impact of these wastes being burnt or left to rot in the field.

The project will deliver around 3,400 direct and indirect jobs to the local host and nearby farming communities lifting over 14,000 people out of poverty whilst displacing coal and fossil fuel energy generation.

Global Green Power PLC Corporation has been working closely with the Department of Energy to find ways to alleviate the power shortages in the Luzon Grid which serves Pangasinan. GPPGPI energy supplies will be sold under "Feed-in-Tariff" and "Bilateral Contracts" as facilitated by the Philippines Renewable Energy Bill that was passed into Law in January 2009 with the Implementing Rules and Regulations ("IRR") signed during June 2009..
